CARLSBAD, Calif. (Feb.28, 2012) – A giant Opee sea killer has arrived at LEGOLAND® California! The 63” by 34” model created out of 20,000 LEGO® bricks is just one of many new models and scenes being added to LEGO® Star Wars™ Miniland launching March 29 at LEGOLAND® California Resort.
Master Model Builder, Gary McIntire, un-wrapped the never-before-seen Opee sea killer and began assembling the menacing fish that is featured in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, chasing Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Jar Jar Binks as they navigate through the waters of Naboo in their tri-bubble bongo submarine.
In LEGO Star Wars Miniland, Guests can enjoy news scenes from the six live-action Star Wars™ movies, as well as one from the animated series Star Wars: THE CLONE WARS™ all made out of more than 1.5 million LEGO bricks and built in 1:20 scale.
On March 29, for the first time, guests will be further immersed into the Star Wars experience as they walk through LEGO® Star Wars Gallery encountering large-scale LEGO minifigures from each episode. Each LEGO model will be 3-feet-tall and displayed on a podium for guests to get an up-close look. The 12 characters feature: Wicket, Princess Leia, R2-D2, Clone Captain Rex, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, Yoda and Darth Maul.
