Gloria Estefan at Halloween Horror Nights 21 at Universal Orlando Resort
Grammy-award winning singer and songwriter Gloria Estefan encountered deceased souls while making her way through the Winter’s Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery haunted house at Universal Orlando Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights 21 tonight. Hosted this year by Universal Orlando, Estefan and her family are avid fans of Halloween Horror Nights and have been coming to the event since its inception in 1990. Named “the country’s best Halloween event” for four years in a row, Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights brings to life guests’ most intense nightmares on select nights this fall through October 31. Estefan’s newest album, “Miss Little Havana” debuted Sept. 27 with the hit single, “Wepa,” already at No. 3 on the Billboard dance chart.

Rock-Horror Icon Alice Cooper, Rainn Wilson, David Arquette and Jamie Kennedy Alongside Rising Stars Bailee Madison and Emma Bell to Receive “Eyegore” Awards at Universal Studios Hollywood as Theme Park Celebrates Opening Night of “Halloween Horror Nights” on September 23
Universal City, CA— “Scream” stars David Arquette and Jamie Kennedy will join Rainn Wilson, star of Rob Zombie’s “House of 1000 Corpses,” “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” star Bailee Madison, “Final Destination 5” actress Emma Bell and legendary rocker Alice Cooper as honorees at the 2011 “Eyegore” Awards, the opening night ceremony for “Halloween Horror Nights®” at Universal Studios HollywoodSM.
Corey Feldman returns as host of the ceremony with presenters that include former “Eyegore” Award recipient Rob Zombie and Calico Cooper. Filmmaker Eli Roth, one of last year’s “Eyegore” recipients who helps bring this year’s new maze to life, “Eli Roth’s Hostel: Hunting Season” and actor / director Diego Luna, who’s serving as creative consultant to the new maze, “La Llorona: Villa De Almas Perdidas,” will also be in attendance.
The winner of the 2011 “Halloween Horror Nights” Short Film Competition will also debut at the event.
Recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Alice Cooper created the concept of the theatrical rock concert and has thrilled generations of fans with spectacular stagecraft and darkly flamboyant showmanship. His recording career spans six decades, includes over two dozen albums, millions of record sales, countless world tours and appearances in scores of movies and videos, including a brief but memorable appearance in both “Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy’s Dead” and Universal Pictures’ “Prince of Darkness.” The rock icon will also unveil his new maze, “Alice Cooper: Welcome to My Nightmare” at this year’s “Halloween Horror Nights,” inspired by his landmark concept album and its long-awaited sequel “Welcome 2 My Nightmare,” to be released on September 13 through Universal Music Enterprises.
Before catapulting to fame as Dwight Schrute on NBC’s “The Office,” actor Rainn Wilson terrified audiences in 2003 with his star-turning performance as “Fish Boy” in Rob Zombie’s horror cult classic, “House of 1000 Corpses.” The film was transformed into the popular maze, “Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses: In 3D ZombieVision” at last year’s event and makes an encore performance at this year’s “Halloween Horror Nights.”
Filmmaker David Arquette first introduced the character of Deputy Dewey to audiences in Wes Craven’s 1996 enormously successful slasher film “Scream.” He returned to face the infamous “Ghostface Killer” in all three subsequent sequels, including “Scream 4.”
Jamie Kennedy, recognized for his role as Eli James on the hauntingly popular television show, “Ghost Whisperer,” reprised his role as Randy Meeks in the first three “Scream” movies. This year’s “Halloween Horror Nights” pays homage to the latest installment of the “Scream” films when “Ghostface Killer” makes an otherworldly appearance to stalk guests on “Terror Tram: Scream 4 Your Life,” a new experience on the world-famous backlot.

Universal Studios Hollywood Announces General Admission and Front of Line Tickets Now On Sale For Much-Anticipated “Halloween Horror Nights,” Taking Place Select Nights from September 23 to October 31
Universal City, California—Tickets are now on sale for “Halloween Horror Nights®,” taking place at Universal Studios HollywoodSM on select nights from September 23 through October 31.

Actor, Director Diego Luna Collaborates with Universal Studios Hollywood To Create Disturbing New “Halloween Horror Nights” Maze, “La Llorona: Villa De Almas Perdidas,” Based on Terrifying Mexican Legend
Universal City, California— La Llorona, the fearful story of melancholy and murder that has terrified Mexican and Latin American children for generations, will have an expanded presence at this year’s “Halloween Horror Nights®” event as Universal Studios Hollywood recruits Mexico-based film star Diego Luna as a creative consultant to design the all-new terror-filled maze, “La Llorona: Villa De Almas Perdidas.” The event begins on September 23 and continues on select nights through October 31.
“La Llorona: Villa De Almas Perdidas,” which translates to “Weeping Woman: Village of Lost Souls,” will feature elaborate sets depicting sites within and around a small Mexican village. The new maze will tell the haunting story of “La Llorona,” doomed to wander the earth forever after drowning her children in a desperate attempt to win a lost love. She then drowns herself when this attempt to win her lost love fails. According to the legend, La Llorona’s dreadful, wailing cries—“My children! Where are my children?”—can be heard eternally piercing the night. La Llorona’s frail, drenched body lurking throughout the dead of night will invariably elicit unwavering dread from the helpless village inhabitants or maze guests as her presence signifies impending death.
Diego Luna said: “Like all Mexican children, I grew up with the story of ‘La Llorona’ and I think it’s a tale with universal appeal. Story-telling is at the heart of all my work and I’m thrilled to have the chance to help present the great ‘La Llorona’ legend in a different kind of medium at the ‘Halloween Horror Nights’ event.”

Eli Roth's Hostel: Hunting Season to be New Maze at Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights
Universal City, CA -- Eli Roth, the multi-talented director, writer, producer and actor, will adapt his enormously successful “Hostel” film franchise to create “Eli Roth’s Hostel: Hunting Season,” a twisted new “Halloween Horror Nights® maze at Universal Studios HollywoodSM. The event begins on September 23 and continues on select nights through October 31.
“Hostel: Hunting Season,” for which Universal will build elaborate sets re-creating locations in Slovakia, will mark the horror auteur and star’s first effort at transforming his screen work into a live theme park experience. The maze will re-imagine the film’s dehumanizing torture chambers and send guests on a spiraling journey through the corrupt halls of Elite Hunting’s torture factory. Elite Hunting, a secret society that tortures and kills American youth for sport in exchange for large sums of money, will prowl the factory and prey on its many maze visitors.

The new haunted house will offer guests an unprecedented first-hand preview of the much-anticipated thriller in advance of its October 14 release. Guests will find themselves in a series of face-to-face encounters with “The Thing,” an alien creature that can transform itself into an exact replica of any living being. “The Thing” maze will recreate the spine-chilling suspense from the film, confronting guests with the paranoia and fear that comes from being trapped inside the film’s Antarctic Thule station. The shape-shifting alien could be anywhere or anything. Will they survive?
Eerily authentic, “The Thing” maze will feature elaborately designed and disturbingly real alien creatures and sets. They will match the film’s terrifying intensity and provoke both a memorable and disturbing experience. Universal’s theme parks have partnered with the film’s producers, Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman (Dawn of the Dead) to create an experience that is authentic to the film. UNIVERSAL PICTURES’ UPCOMING THRILLER “THE THING” TO BECOME HAUNTED HOUSE EXPERIENCE AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO’S HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS
ORLANDO, Fla. (July 19, 2011) — An abandoned scientific research facility in the midst of a vast and frozen Antarctica will set the stage for “The Thing,” an all-new haunted house inspired by Universal Pictures’ upcoming thriller, at Universal Orlando Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights 21. In the thriller “The Thing,” paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet.
The new haunted house will offer guests an unprecedented first-hand preview of the much-anticipated thriller in advance of its October 14 release. Guests will find themselves in a series of face-to-face encounters with “The Thing,” an alien creature that can transform itself into an exact replica of any living being. “The Thing” haunted house will recreate the spine-chilling suspense from the film, confronting guests with the paranoia and fear that comes from being trapped inside the film’s Antarctic Thule station. The shape-shifting alien could be anywhere or anything. Will they survive?
Eerily authentic, “The Thing” haunted house will feature elaborately designed and disturbingly real alien creatures and sets. They will match the film’s terrifying intensity and provoke both a memorable and disturbing experience. Universal Orlando has partnered with the film’s producers, Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman (Dawn of the Dead) to create an experience that is authentic to the film. The sets, audio, musical score, creature and character references are all based on the film. Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights event will also offer a haunted house based on the thriller.
“Having recreated well known horror films in the past, the same level of attention to detail has gone into creating a house experience that will completely immerse guests into the storyline and environment of ‘The Thing,’ said Jim Timon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Universal Orlando.

Universal Studios Hollywood Dares Filmmakers to Submit Their Most Twisted Horror Short Films As Part of Annual “Halloween Horror Nights” Short Film Competition
Universal City, Ca -–Universal Studios Hollywood invites aspiring filmmakers to compete in its annual “Halloween Horror Nights” short film competition, offering budding directors an opportunity to have their most disturbing horror short films judged by a panel of industry insiders, including horror film auteur Eli Roth, Daily Variety senior writer, Marc Graser and “Halloween Horror Nights” Creative Director John Murdy. The winning film will be awarded a premiere showing on Chiller, a posting on Syfy.com, a cash prize of $1,000, and a trip for two to “Halloween Horror Nights’” opening night “Eyegore Awards” at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Contest entries will be accepted from June 27 through August 1, 2011. Prospective filmmakers can submit short films from 90 seconds to three minutes in length on DVD (two copies of each film must be submitted). Films will be judged based on storytelling skill, originality and scare factor. The top 10 horror shorts, as determined by the panel, will be posted online at HalloweenHorrorNights.com from August 22 to September 9, 2011 for public voting. The winning film will be announced on September 12, 2011.

Carey Hart Visits Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights XX
Motocross champion and co-owner of Hart & Huntington tattoo Carey Hart found himself held captive by the Queen of Hearts at Halloween Horror Nights XX: Twenty Years of Fear at Universal Orlando Resort on October 28. Hart was hosted at Halloween Horror Nights, an extreme and intense Halloween event featuring eight haunted houses, six scarezones and hundreds of menacing creatures, while he was in Orlando to celebrate the launch of the new web site for Hart & Huntington Tattoo’s Orlando location in Universal CityWalk. Hart will sign autographs for fans on Oct. 29 at the Hart and Huntington Tattoo in Universal CityWalk from 5pm – 7pm ET. Halloween Horror Nights runs October 28-31.

Halloween Horror Nights 2010 is still going strong at Universal Studios Hollywood, and you can go behind the screams in this latest video of the history and creation of one of the event's many attractions, La Llorona!
Spanish legend tells that La Llorona, "The Weeping Woman," was a beautiful woman who drowned her children to be with the man she loved. But he rejected her, so she drowned herself too. Her ghost is doomed to wander, vainly searching for her children for all of eternity. According to the tale, she will kidnap wandering children or children who misbehave. Some also believe that those who hear the wails of La Llorona are marked for death.

Syfy Channel's "Ghost Hunters" Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango Experience Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights XX
Last night, Syfy Channel’s “Ghost Hunters” Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango confronted the haunts of Halloween Horror Nights XX, including Legendary Truth: The Wyandot Estate, one of eight haunted houses at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights.
“Ghost Hunters” has become one of the highest rated reality shows on the Syfy Channel. The popular show documents real-life paranormal researchers Gonsalves, Tango and others as they investigate haunted places across the nation.
