A Day of Music & Dance at Sacramento's Fairytale Town
July 3, 2010 - 11AM to 3PM
The INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL returns to the Mother Goose Stage on July 3 with performances from 11AM to 3PM. Musical styles from around the world mix with exotic dancing and colorful costumes in this entertaining and educational day of live performances.
This year's attractions include Mexican folk dancing from Folklorico Aztlan de Sacramento, and infectious African rhythms from the Fenix Drum & Dance Company. Indian dance will be offered by Sangeet Bharati, and Kyla's School of Highland Dance returns to represent the Scottish Isles. Representing dance forms from Japan will be Minyo Tamoshimi Kai, and El Ka Pa Hala Kalama demonstrating various Polynesian dance styles. Fairytale Town favorite UNMATA will also be back with their own evocative and breathtaking brand of tribal bellydance.
Bringing world cultures to Fairytale Town is just one way that the organization is furthering its mission of educating children. "Learning is more than just reading and writing, its also about seeing cultures from around the globe, to understand that we are a part of a multi-cultural community and world," says Kathy Fleming, Executive Director.
