ORLANDO, Fla. – (April 6, 2010) – PLAYGROUND Magazine, along with Publix, IKEA, The Green Parent Association and The Orange County Arts Education Center is pumped to host the hippest, most interactive, community-diverse, FREE family event in Central Florida. The Second Annual Playground Music and Arts Fest will host over 150 exhibitors giving families a day full of rock climbing, bounce-housing, face painting, belly dancing, punk hair-doing, jewelry making and of course, craft creating.
Groove to the Beat with performances by Radio Disney, Mr. Richard and Davey Rocker. Get down with the Pop Shop, Studio One and the Bell Towers. Try it yourself in the break dancing workshop and the make-your-own-music-video station. To keep the party bumping, performances will include strolling belly dancers, a group drum circle, DJ dance parties and puppet shows.
Explore Your Summer options as you navigate through over 50 booths at the Summer Camp Fair, offering some of Orlando’s most unique summer options for kids. Not sure about camp this year? Stop by anyway and get your hands on the uber cool interactive experiences.
Create A Work of Art at the mushroom art installation. Try your hand at the pottery wheel. Dazzle someone you love with a one-of-a-kind, make-it-yourself jewelry creation. And enjoy timeless favorites like face painting and finger puppet art.
Leap into Action at one of the event’s bounce houses. Kids will be King of the Hill when they top the rock wall exhibit. And, after all that action, chillax and stretch out during a kiddie yoga workshop and a family massage.
Take Center Stage as you take Central Florida by storm in our celebrity-judged karaoke contest and the Ultimate Rock Band Throwdown experience, presented by the Orlando Science Center. Prizes will be awarded. Be sure to bring along your groupies.
Love Mother Earth as you stroll through the Green Section of the Fest, full of community-based, eco-friendly businesses. Orlando’s Farmer’s Market will also be open.
“The Playground Music & Arts Fest embodies the types of events people are enjoying more and more in downtown Orlando. As our area continues to grow, families are looking for activities to engage their children, while also allowing adults to have a great time as well. This arts education advocacy event engages all ages. I enjoy being a part of it,” proclaims Mayor Buddy Dyer.
A portion of the proceeds from sponsorships will go to three local charities, which will also be raising funds at the event. PALS (Providing Autism Links & Supports Inc.) will have an “Art for Autism” auction to raise money to promote awareness during National Autism Month. Fatone Family Foundation, which supports local children’s charity organizations, will host a karaoke contest. Page 15, a literacy arts program dedicated to enhancing communication skills and inspiring a passion for language arts, will offer special story time activities.
