When the Temperature Rises, Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun are Still The Summer's Hottest Spot

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The summer heat is once again grasping the Kansas City area, but guests at Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun are beating the heat with a variety of live shows, water slides, and refreshing snack options.  While the current heat wave continues to limit most outdoor activities, vacationers from across the Midwest are staying cool and getting the most out of their summer break at Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun.

Worlds of Fun visitors take a break from the shining sun and view shining stars at a variety of Live Entertainment venues throughout the park. In the comfort of an air conditioned theater, guests enjoy shows featuring a wide variety of genres, from tv tunes to classic oldies. However, not all of Worlds of Fun's great Live Entertainment is inside, as guests can relax under a shade tree at Canine Crossing and enjoy Mutt-allica, a sport and comedy dog show, and after the sun goes down can stay cool under the canopy of the-two-million-light Snoopy's Hot Summer Lights.

Worlds of Fun visitors are also treated with extra steps to keep cool including misters throughout the park and in select queue lines, sprinklers along the midways, and free ice water at all food locations. Thrill riders can get soaked on a variety of water rides, and air conditioned shops and restaurants are the perfect spot to take a break from the thrills. The discounted Ride & Slide ticket provides guests with access to both parks, the ultimate all-day refreshment.  As the sun sets and temperatures begin to drop, take advantage of the discounted Twilight ticket which is available daily after 3 p.m. at Oceans of Fun and after 4 p.m. at Worlds of Fun.

Visitors of all ages are finding refuge from the heat at Oceans of Fun’s mammoth 60-acre spray-ground.  After catching up on the latest swimwear and accessories at the air conditioned Trader Nick’s retail shop, guests can pick their pace by challenging the park’s 18 exciting waterslides or simply chill-out in the relaxing current of the Lazy River.  Guests keep their internal thermostat cool with a variety of refreshing treats including ICEE frozen drinks, frozen lemonade, and Dippin’ Dots ice cream.

Worlds of Fun Village, located near the entrance to both parks, provides a perfect spot for a cool down during the simmering heat.  Guests of Worlds of Fun Village retreat to their air-conditioned cabin or cottage for an afternoon break or can take a refreshing dip late into the evening in the Village Pool.

Oceans of Fun is open daily through August 21, 2011, and weekends only, August 27 - September 5, 2011.   Worlds of Fun is open daily through August 21, 2011, and weekends only through October 30, 2011, including Halloween Haunt this fall.  Worlds of Fun Village is open through mid-November, 2011.
