You Won't Believe What We Found!!!

WHAT A TREASURE!

The museum’s archives hold many treasures, some of them hidden.
Awhile ago, we noticed a reel of 8mm film that was marked simply “Wabash Scenes.”  Since we have no equipment for viewing this kind of film—and since we could tell from the vinegary smell that the film was deteriorating, we sent it to the Indiana Historical Society to be transferred to DVD.
We got it back last week and we are thrilled!  It turned out to be street scenes of the city of Wabash from 1937.  It seems that some forward-thinking person took his or her camera around the city, filming people, government buildings, churches, and grade schools, complete with the students!  We posted some of it on Facebook and have had an overwhelming reaction--texts, e-mails, phone calls, and Facebook comments. In response to this excitement, we are making a special offer!
Make a $25 or larger gift to the museum by the end of the year, and we will give you a copy of the full 48-minute silent film. All of these donations will go toward archival supplies, ensuring that more gems like this one are preserved for the people of Wabash County .  What a unique Christmas gift!  (Personally, I will make a donation and look forward to searching for my father among those school children!)

Some people were unable to view the film we posted yesterday due to the large file size, so we have posted a 3-minute clip here.

You can see the video here.

ANOTHER TREASURE!

We have a few seats left for the December 23 viewing of A Christmas Story, the next movie in our Red Carpet Club series.  The movie starts at 6 pm and there will be special holiday treats!  Popcorn and drinks will be available for a donation.

Come see this holiday classic in our very own little theatre! A Christmas Story is set in Indiana !  "Ralphie, a young boy growing up in the '40's, dreams of owning a Red Rider BB gun. He sets out to convince the world this is the perfect gift. But along the way, he runs into opposition from his parents, his teacher, and even good 'ol Santa Claus himself." - from IMDb.com. This film is rated PG.  It is 27 years old and still brings on gales of laughter from viewers! Don't miss it!

Call 260.563.9070 to reserve your spot. The cost is $5/person. Ages 5 & under, free.

The Red Carpet Club meets every other month and views films with a local connection.  This month’s movie is sponsored by Lady of the House Hair Salon.  Thank you, Heather!
